How it works: if you’re familiar with Ebay penny start auctions, it’s much like that. So, if there is only one bid, the lot is sold to the bidder at a penny. If there is more than one bid, then the highest bid wins by 25p increments above the next lowest bid, up to £5, 50p from £5 to £10 and £1 over £10. Example Bidder A bids £3.00, bidder B bids £4 and bidder C bids £2. The lot is sold to bidder B at £2.50. In the event of a tie, the first bid received is the winning bid. NB: A bid received which does not match the appropriate bidding step will be rounded down, e.g. a bid of £10.50 would be regarded as £10 and would not win over an earlier £10 bid. Unlike Ebay this is a sealed bid postal auction (even if you email your bids) so no-one will know or see your bids. Also, there is a paper catalogue which is aimed at customers who do not have internet access, and the bids which are sent in by post are treated the same as bids received via the "Bid" buttons here. What’s going to be in the auction generally: all sorts really, odd singles and mini collections, along with things which don’t fit in packets, literally in the case of covers. I am going to do my best to find as many interesting but affordable items as I can. As far as value and realisations are concerned, well, there are going to be items which are very obviously worth more than a penny and many items which fall into the “a few pence to a few pounds” bracket. Inevitably, particularly as this sale is only just starting, you have a VERY good chance of bagging something for a penny! What’s in this sale particularly: various CW sets and singles including some high cat items. Loads of collections and accumulations from a few stamps on a card to a collection on pages, plus plenty of GB including some nice QV, along with quite a few FDCs which are always popular, and some odd paquet boat covers. Guarantee: If you’re not happy with what you have received then simply return the item in the condition in which you received it within 7 days and I’ll refund your bid and your postage. Payment: As with approvals, direct bank transfer is the preferred option, but cheques, POs and Paypal are accepted at no extra charge. How to bid: For security and to deter spammers etc., you'll need to register as a bidder using the link to the form below. Once that's done you'll receive a unique bidder number. Once you have your number you just click the BID NOW button beside the item you wish to bid on and enter your bidder number and the bid for that item. You'll then receive confirmation and er......good luck! What happens when the auction is over: You'll receive your results plus an invoice for successful bids. Once payment is received the lots you have successfully bid on are despatched immediately. Please be assured that your information is held very securely, will not be shared with anyone and will not be used for any purposes beyond administering the auction. Any questions? Send me a message and I'll get right back to you.
Have a browse, and bag a bargain! Now there’s a rousingly corny “strap line”.
